RHR International Awards Recognize Excellence in Consulting Psychology
The Society of Consulting Psychology recently announced the recipients of one of its highest honors. Sponsored by RHR International, a world leader in executive and organizational development, the award was presented at the Mid-Winter Conference on Consulting Psychology on February 6, 2016. The “RHR International Award for Excellence in Consultation for 2016” was presented to Robert F. Silzer, Ph.D. This award is given to an individual with a distinguished career in the practice of consulting psychology.
It honors a founding member of RHR International, Perry L. Rohrer, who epitomized the standards of excellence that RHR and the Society seek to perpetuate. Robert Silzer, Ph.D., has consulted with business executives and managers in over 150 organizations, focusing on leadership assessment and development, selection, executive coaching, talent management, and other strategy-driven HR programs. After receiving his Ph.D. in industrial-organizational psychology and counseling psychology from the University of Minnesota, Robert served as Senior Director of personnel research for Fieldcrest-Cannon and President of Personnel Decisions—New York, before founding his own consulting firm.
Robert is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and the Society of Consulting Psychology. He has taught Ph.D.-level psychology courses and been Adjunct Professor at the University of Minnesota, New York University, and Baruch College City University of New York. Currently he is on the doctoral faculty in industrial-organizational psychology at Graduate School of the City University of New York. Robert has served on the editorial boards of Personnel Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology: Perspectives on Science and Practice, and The Industrial-Organizational Psychologist, and on the board of Personnel Decisions Research Institute. He is a former president of the Metropolitan New York Association of Applied Psychology and co-founder of the Minnesota Industrial Organizational Psychology Association.
Robert has written numerous articles and book chapters in the field of industrial-organizational psychology and has edited several books, including The 21st Century Executive: Innovative Practices for Building Leadership at the Top and Individual Psychological Assessment: Predicting Behavior in Organizational Settings.
